Our early list of the best idle games for 2027, updated monthly: the strongest idle RPGs, tycoons and builders released in the last 12 months, with ratings, ads and prices checked on Google Play, plus the trends that will shape idle games next year.

2027 has not started yet, so this is an early list, and we will update it every month. It answers a simple question: which idle games are worth starting now if you want something that will still be good next year? Our picks are the strongest idle games released in the last 12 months, the ones with high ratings from many players and updates in recent weeks, plus the classics that will not go away.

All data comes from Google Play on 25 September 2026. We make idle games too, and we mark our own clearly at the end.

The best idle games for 2027 at a glance

How we picked

We started from our data set of 1,960 games on Google Play and kept idle games released between October 2025 and September 2026 with at least a few thousand ratings and an average of 4.2 or more. Then we read the store pages to sort them by type. Ratings are not a verdict, since a young game has fewer of them, so we show how many people rated each one.

New idle games from the last 12 months

Idle RPGs

The biggest story of the year is famous series going idle. MapleStory: Idle RPG brings Nexon's classic to the genre and has the most ratings of any new idle RPG in our data. CookieRun: Crumble is the newest, from July 2026, and already has over a million installs. Netmarble's StoneAge: Idle Adventure does the same for its long-running series. If you prefer no ads and small purchases, Realm Idle is the stand-out: a skilling RPG with 15 skills, crafting and bosses, offline progress and purchases that stop at $24.99. Tycoons and builders

Airport Empire and Drill&Chill are the two new tycoons with the most ratings, and Drill&Chill is unusually gentle on spending: its in-app purchases are listed at $3.99. Idle Fishlandia has the highest average of the list, 4.83, from a smaller number of ratings. Ringdale is the cozy pick, a fantasy village you grow at your own pace. Something different

Space Base: Idle Tower Defense mixes an idle economy with tower defense, and Idle Cat Gunner turns an idle RPG into a cute shooter. Both are good choices if the usual formulas feel familiar.

The classics that will still matter in 2027

New games are only half of a good idle list. Our study of 847 idle games on Google Play points to three things to expect next year:

• More new games, not fewer. 131 idle games in our sample came out in 2024, more than in any other year, and 2026 had already produced 100 by the end of September.
• Games that keep changing. 43% of idle games were updated in the last 30 days. An idle game you start in 2027 will likely look different a year later.
• Big brands going idle. MapleStory, CookieRun and StoneAge all launched idle spin-offs within a year. Expect more well-known series to follow.

The monetization will look familiar: 88% of the idle games in our study show ads and 95% sell in-app purchases. Are there idle games with no ads?

Yes, but few: in our study only about 12% of idle games have no ads. Realm Idle is the one on this list; our no-ads list has more.

Will these games work offline?

Many idle games do, but not all. Realm Idle and Airport Empire list offline play on Google Play. Our offline idle games list only includes games that work without a connection.
