Your Brain in Block Brain: Block Puzzle Game grows through 50 stages in 10 worlds, from a pink Sprout with a leaf on its head to a crowned, rainbow Mastermind. Every finished game gives Brain XP, and XP is the only thing that moves it forward. At the pace the game was tuned for, about eight games a day, you reach level 5 on day one, level 15 in about two weeks, level 30 in about two months and level 50 in roughly six and a half months.

We make Block Brain, so the numbers below come straight from the game code. One thing to say up front: your Brain is a game character and a progress marker. The game makes no claim that it trains or changes your real brain, and neither do we.

The 10 Brain worlds

Each world has five stages, named after the world with a Roman numeral, such as Engineer III. Your level decides your stage: level 1 is Sprout I, level 6 is Thinker I and level 50 is Mastermind V. When you enter a new world, the game plays BRAIN EVOLVED! and welcomes you to it; other level-ups show BRAIN LEVEL UP!.

The time column assumes about 100 Brain XP per game, which is what eight ordinary games a day add up to. Better games give more, so treat it as a pace, not a promise.

How much XP each level needs

The total XP for a level follows one formula: round(19.7 x level^2.3). Level 2 needs 97 XP in total, level 10 needs 3,931, level 25 needs 32,339 and level 50 needs 159,257. Every level costs a little more than the one before, so the second half of the journey takes far longer than the first.

After level 50: Mastermind stars

Level 50 is the last Brain stage, but the journey does not stop. Every further 25,000 XP adds a Mastermind star, shown as Mastermind ★1, ★2 and so on, with no upper limit. At the same eight games a day, that is about one star a month.

How to earn Brain XP

Every finished game counts, whether it is Classic, the Daily Puzzle or Brain Express. One game gives:

• 10 XP for finishing it
• 4 XP for every line you clear
• 8 XP for every step of your best combo above x1
• 40 XP for every board clear
• 1 XP for every 250 points
• 30 XP for a new best score

A game always gives at least 10 XP and at most 600. Here is what that looks like in practice:

Lines are the steady source, board clears are the big jumps, and combos reward planning a few moves ahead. Our high score tips cover how to set up combos and clears.

Tips to evolve your Brain faster

1. Play longer runs. Every line is 4 XP, so one long game beats three quick ones that end early.
2. Aim for board clears. At 40 XP each, one clear is worth ten lines.
3. Build combos. A best combo of x5 adds 32 XP on its own.
4. Do the Daily Puzzle every day. It gives Brain XP like any game, and a daily streak also pays coins. See our Daily Puzzle and leagues guide.

6. Chase your best score. A new best adds 30 XP on top of everything else.

Brain XP and the weekly league

The Brain XP from every game also counts as your points in the weekly league, so leveling up and climbing the league are the same effort. Finish in the top 3 of your group and you win coins and a new cosmetic for your Brain.

The Brain collection and cosmetics

Tap your Brain on the home screen to open the Brain collection. It shows all 50 stages by world: the stages you have reached in full colour, your current one glowing and the rest as dark silhouettes. The counter on the Brain card shows how many of the 50 you have unlocked.

Cosmetics are the other kind of collection. There are 12, all purely visual: four hats (Party Hat, Wizard Hat, Beanie, Top Hat), four pairs of glasses (Sunglasses, Nerd Glasses, Heart Glasses, Star Glasses) and four neck pieces (Bow Tie, Scarf, Gold Chain, Cape). You win one you do not own yet each time you finish a weekly league in the top 3, and you equip them from the Brain collection. They fit every one of the 50 stages, because the Brain keeps the same shape as it evolves.

Achievements for your Brain

If you play with Google Play Games, three achievements follow your Brain: reaching Brain level 10, level 25 and level 50, the last one called Fully Grown.

What is the max Brain level in Block Brain?

There are 50 Brain stages, ending at Mastermind V. After that you keep earning Mastermind stars, one for every 25,000 XP, without a limit.

How long does it take to reach Mastermind?

The Mastermind world starts at level 46, which needs 131,465 XP in total, about five and a half months at eight games a day. Level 50 needs 159,257 XP, about six and a half months at that pace.

Does the Brain level make the game easier or harder?

No. The Brain is your companion and a record of how much you have played. Its level does not change the board, the blocks or the scoring.

Why did my Brain not level up after a game?

Every game adds XP, but higher levels need more of it. Check the bar under your Brain on the home screen: it shows how far you are into the current level.
