Block Brain High Score Tips: How Scoring Really Works
How Block Brain scores lines, combos, same-color lines and board clears, plus placement strategy, booster timing and continues to beat your high score.
Block Brain is a block puzzle game with a simple goal: drag pieces onto the 8x8 board, fill whole rows or columns and watch them clear. Beating your best score takes knowing exactly where the points come from. This guide explains how scoring works in Classic mode (the big PLAY button) and how to use it.
How scoring works in Block Brain
Points come from two places. Every block you place is worth 1 point, so a 3x3 square adds 9 points the moment it lands. The real points are in clearing lines. A cleared row or column is worth 10 points, and clearing several with one piece pays far more than clearing them one by one:
- 1 line: 10 points
- 2 lines at once: 30 points
- 3 lines at once: 60 points
- 4 lines at once: 100 points
- 5 or more lines at once: 150 points
Three lines in one move are worth as much as six single clears. That is the first rule of a high score: build the board up so that one piece finishes two or three lines together, instead of clearing every line the moment you can.
Block puzzle combos: the biggest multiplier
Every placement that clears at least one line raises your combo by one, and the points for that clear are multiplied by it. From the second clear in a row you see COMBO x2 over the board, then x3 and so on. Two lines at once on COMBO x4 are worth 30 x 4 = 120 points instead of 30.
Combos do not last forever. A placement that clears nothing counts as a miss, and three misses reset your combo to zero. The best block puzzle strategy for combos is a steady rhythm: keep one or two lines nearly full at all times, so most of your pieces can finish something.
The praise words over the board, from Good! up to Unbelievable!, grow with the lines you clear and your combo.
Same-color lines and the board clear bonus
Two bonuses sit on top of the normal line points:
- Same-color line: every piece has a single color. If a row or column you clear is made entirely of one color, the line points for that move are doubled.
- Board clear: empty the whole board with one move and you get BRAIN BLAST! plus a bonus of 300 points, multiplied by your combo.
Do not wreck your board chasing colors, but when two pieces in your tray share a color, check whether they can finish a line together. Board clears come from keeping the board light: the fewer loose blocks you leave, the more often one clear wipes everything.
Block puzzle strategy: placement tips that keep you alive
Big scores need long runs, and long runs need a board that always has room. A few habits make the difference:
- Keep space for the 3x3 square and the five-block lines. They are the pieces that end runs, and pieces cannot be rotated.
- Avoid holes. A single empty cell boxed in by blocks is hard to fill and blocks its row and its column.
- Plan all three pieces. New pieces only arrive after you have placed all three, so think about the order before the first one goes down.
- Use the preview. While you drag a piece, the rows and columns it would complete light up, so you can check a clear before you let go.
- Fill the edges first and keep the middle open, where most shapes still fit.
Also know when the game gets serious. Early in a run Block Brain is generous: below 1,000 points it deals three pieces that can all fit on your board at the same time. Between 1,000 and 3,000 points that help fades step by step, and from 3,000 points on the pieces are random, with only one of the three sure to fit when they are dealt. That is where careful planning really pays off.
When to use boosters: Hammer, Bomb and New Pieces
The booster bar under your pieces holds three helpers:
- Hammer: tap a block to smash it. Perfect for the one block that stops a line.
- Bomb: tap a spot to blast a 3x3 area around it.
- New Pieces: swaps the pieces in your tray for three new ones. Best used when you are down to one awkward piece, since you get a full set of three back.
Boosters score no points themselves, and using one does not count as a miss for your combo. New players start with 2 Hammers, 1 Bomb and 2 New Pieces. Win more on the Lucky Spin (one free spin a day), buy them with coins (Hammer 50, Bomb 90, New Pieces 30) or get one for a short video, up to two free per game. Save them for after 3,000 points, when the game stops picking pieces that fit. The Daily Puzzle has no boosters.
How to continue a run and beat your high score
When nothing fits, the game shows Out of moves! and offers one continue per run: watch a video or use 15 coins before the countdown ends and you get three new pieces, each picked to fit your board. Once you pass 60% of your best score, a line under the score shows how many points you still need.
You can also stop at any time. A Classic run is saved when you leave the app or go back to the menu, and the PLAY button turns into CONTINUE. Your score, board and pieces come back, but your combo starts again from zero.
At 1,000, 3,000, 6,000, 10,000 and 15,000 points, and every 6,000 points after that, your blocks change their look with a NEW BLOCKS! banner: Jelly, Candy, Gems, Neon, Bubbles or Ocean. It is only a new look; colors count the same. When the game ends you earn 1 coin for every 250 points.
