Idle Restaurant: Miami Managers Guide: Ranks, Skills and Merging

Everything about managers in Idle Restaurant: Miami: what they do, the odds of Junior, Senior and Expert, every skill with its real numbers, how long skills last and cool down, how hire prices grow, how merging takes a manager to Lv 5, and what the Manager Album pays.

Managers run your restaurant in Idle Restaurant: Miami. One manager can work each kitchen floor, one runs the elevator and one runs the restaurant counter. They keep everything moving without taps, they are what makes your restaurant earn while you are away, and each one has a skill you can switch on for a burst. The quick answer to which manager is best: an Expert, because its skill lasts ten times longer than a Junior's, with the skill that speeds up your slowest part.

We make Idle Restaurant: Miami, so every number here comes from the game's code.

What managers do

  • Automation: a floor with a manager keeps cooking on its own, the elevator keeps running and the waiters keep selling.
  • Offline earnings: while you are away, a restaurant only earns if the elevator and the restaurant both have a manager, and only kitchens with a manager count.
  • Skills: tap Activate and the skill runs for a while, then it needs a cooldown before the next use. A video resets all cooldowns at once, and another one activates all managers at once.

Ranks and their odds

Every manager is a Junior, a Senior or an Expert, and a hire picks the rank at random. Cafe Cubano has better odds:

RankOddsOdds in Cafe CubanoSkill lastsCooldown
Junior64%45%1 min5 min
Senior24%32%5 min15 min
Expert12%23%10 min30 min

The button that asks for a video, Hire Senior or better manager, skips the Junior roll: two hires in three are Seniors and one in three is an Expert. There is no Master rank in the game.

Every skill, with its numbers

Each manager gets one skill, drawn from the skills that fit its place. The strength depends on the rank:

SkillWhereJuniorSeniorExpert
Upgrade Costeverywhere-40%-60%-80%
Cooking Speedkitchensx4x6x8
Walking Speedkitchens, restaurantx3x4x5
Loading Speedelevator, restaurantx3x4x5
Movement Speedelevatorx3x4x5
Load Expansionelevator, restaurantx2x3x4

Upgrade Cost is the odd one out: it speeds nothing up, but while it runs, upgrades of that kitchen, the elevator or the restaurant are that much cheaper. Switch it on right before a big shopping round and hold the upgrade button while the timer runs.

Some skills are rarer than others:

  • Kitchens: Upgrade Cost 47%, Walking Speed 33%, Cooking Speed 20%.
  • Elevator: Upgrade Cost 41%, Movement Speed 29%, Loading Speed 18%, Load Expansion 12%.
  • Restaurant: Upgrade Cost 41%, Walking Speed 29%, Loading Speed 18%, Load Expansion 12%.

Which manager goes where

  • Kitchens: Cooking Speed is the strongest burst, x8 for an Expert. Put your best cooks on your newest floors, which make far more than the old ones.
  • Elevator: Load Expansion and Movement Speed help most when the elevator is the bottleneck.
  • Restaurant: Loading Speed and Load Expansion let the waiters clear the counter faster.
  • Upgrade Cost managers belong where you spend the most: your newest kitchens, or the elevator and the restaurant late in a run.

Hire prices

Kitchens, the elevator and the restaurant each have their own price, and every hire makes the next one there more expensive: kitchen managers cost twice as much after every hire, elevator and restaurant managers 4.5 times as much. Prices also grow with the restaurant, so Sushi Club's managers cost 1,000 times what Ocean Pizza's do. Two things make them cheaper: Cafe Cubano halves manager prices, and Talent Agency in Empire HQ takes off 5% per level, up to 50%.

Selling a manager you do not need returns 100% of what it is worth, so trying a few hires and keeping the best costs you nothing in the end.

Merging: from Lv 1 to Lv 5

When you have two managers with the same place, skill and rank, the one you keep can absorb the other: a green arrow appears on its portrait. Their levels add up, to a maximum of Lv 5. Every level above 1 makes the skill last 25% longer and cool down 10% faster, and the merged manager is worth both when you sell it. For an Expert:

Expert levelSkill lastsCooldown
Lv 110 min30 min
Lv 212.5 min27 min
Lv 315 min24 min
Lv 417.5 min21 min
Lv 520 min18 min

A Lv 5 Expert's skill runs longer than it rests, which is as close to a permanent boost as the game gets.

The Manager Album

From player level 6, the Manager Album collects the Junior, Senior and Expert of every restaurant, 15 portraits in all. A portrait unlocks the first time you hire that rank there, and a full row pays diamonds once: 20 for Ocean Pizza, 30 for Sushi Club, 40 for Tiki Bar, 50 for Cafe Cubano and 60 for Lobster Club.

Managers and renovation

A renovation keeps all your managers, their levels and your hire prices. Kitchen managers leave their floors, because the floors start again, so assign them to the new floors as you build. More on that in our renovation guide.

FAQ

What is the best manager in Idle Restaurant: Miami?

An Expert with Cooking Speed (x8) for a busy kitchen, or an Expert with the skill that speeds up your bottleneck. Merge duplicates up to Lv 5 for twice the skill time.

Do manager skills work while the game is closed?

No. Managers keep your restaurant earning offline, but skills only run while you play. Offline earnings grow with boosts, Empire HQ and the offline pack instead.

Why can I not merge two managers?

Both must have the same place (kitchen, elevator or restaurant), the same skill and the same rank, the one you absorb must be unassigned, and the level cannot go above 5.
