Idle Restaurant: Miami Beginner's Guide: Floors, Managers and Stars
Everything a new owner needs in Idle Restaurant: Miami: how your kitchens, elevator and restaurant turn food into cash, what to upgrade first, why managers decide your offline earnings, how boosts and road cars help, and how stars and your first renovation speed everything up.
Idle Restaurant: Miami is an idle tycoon game where you build a tower of kitchens above a Miami restaurant. Cooks make food on every floor, an elevator carries it down, and waiters sell it at the counter. The short version of how to grow fast: keep those three parts in balance, because the slowest one decides your income, give each of them a manager so the restaurant runs without you, and build toward 10, 15 and 20 floors, where every restaurant earns a star worth +10% income in all your restaurants.
We make Idle Restaurant: Miami, so every number in this guide comes from the game's code.
How your restaurant makes money
Each floor of the tower is a kitchen. Its cooks carry finished dishes to the elevator shaft, the elevator collects from every floor and brings the food down, and the waiters at the counter sell it. Cash only arrives when all three keep up, so a fast kitchen above a slow elevator earns little.
- Kitchens cook. Every kitchen level adds 10% to that floor's output, and more cooks join at kitchen levels 25, 50, 100 and 200, up to five.
- The elevator carries. Every level raises its load by 20% and makes it a little faster.
- The restaurant sells. Every level raises what each waiter carries by 20%, and more waiters join at levels 25, 50, 100 and 200.
Every upgrade costs 15% more than the one before. Upgrades also pay diamonds when a kitchen, the elevator or the restaurant reaches level 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200: 2, 2, 4, 4 and 8 diamonds, twice that in Lobster Club.
What to upgrade first
- Find the bottleneck. The Overview screen shows the Total Production of your kitchens and the Total Transportation of the elevator and the restaurant. Upgrade whichever is lowest.
- Finish milestones. A kitchen a few levels short of 25, 50, 100 or 200 is worth finishing, because the next level brings another cook, and every milestone pays diamonds.
- Hold the upgrade button. Holding it repeats the upgrade faster and faster, so dozens of levels take seconds.
- Build a new floor when you can. A new floor is a whole new kitchen, and newer floors cook far more than old ones.
Floors and construction breaks
A restaurant holds up to 20 floors, and each new floor costs about 20 times the one before. After floors 5, 10 and 15 the tower needs construction work first: you pay a tenth of the next floor's price and wait 1, 2 or 3 hours. A video takes 30 minutes off the wait, and diamonds finish it at once, at most 50, 100 or 150, less as the timer runs down. The floor after each break (6, 11 and 16) costs ten times more again.
You can also build a floor with diamonds. The price follows how many minutes of income the floor would cost you: at least 10 diamonds for an early floor, growing 20% per floor, and never more than 1,000. It is best kept for a floor that would otherwise take hours.
Managers: the key to earning while you are away
Every kitchen, the elevator and the restaurant can have a manager. A manager keeps that part working without taps, and each one has a skill you can switch on for a burst, such as x8 cooking speed. Hire them early: while you are away, your restaurant only earns if the elevator and the restaurant both have a manager, and only kitchens with a manager count. Our managers guide has every skill and its numbers.
Offline earnings
While you are away, each restaurant earns 20% of what its slowest part can move per second, with all your permanent bonuses. It starts counting after 2 minutes and stops at 12 hours. Sushi Club counts up to 24 hours, each level of Night Shift in Empire HQ adds an hour and the VIP Club adds 4. When you come back, a video doubles what you earned.
Playing earns more than waiting: your restaurant runs at full speed, and live bonuses such as rain and happy hour only count while you play. Our general guide to offline earnings compares how other idle games do it.
Boosts
- Video boost: x2 income for 2 hours per video, up to 12 hours in total. In Tiki Bar it is x3.
- Shop boosts: x2, x4 or x10 income for 1 hour or 12 hours, paid with diamonds, from 50 to 1,200.
- Tap a kitchen to rush it: every tap adds a second of double-speed cooking, up to five seconds.
- Road cars: from player level 3 a car drives past every 2 to 4 minutes. Tap it for about two minutes of income, at least a tenth of your next floor's price. About one car in seven is golden and pays double; a video adds 20 diamonds.
Stars: +10% income everywhere
Every restaurant earns a star at 10, 15 and 20 floors. Each star adds +10% income in every restaurant you own and pays 50, 100 or 200 diamonds, so the 15 stars of all five restaurants add +150%. Stars count your floor record, so a renovation never takes them away.

Daily habits that add up
- Daily Reward (level 2): seven days of cash, diamonds and a boost, with 40 diamonds and 2 hours of income on day 7. Missing a day starts the row again.
- Daily Quests (level 4): three a day, each worth 2 diamonds and 15 minutes of income, and weekly chests at 5, 10 and 15 quests.
- Collect all on the World Map puts the offline cash of every other restaurant into its own wallet.
Your first renovation
At 10 floors (player level 7) a restaurant can be renovated: its floors and levels start again, but its income is doubled for good and you get neon tokens for Empire HQ. Our renovation guide explains when it pays. The next restaurants and their perks are in our restaurants and recipes guide.
