Dark Tower Worlds and Bosses: All 5 Worlds, 60 Enemies and Tips
A guide to the five worlds of Dark Tower: Idle Villain TD: how a world is built, when the bosses come, what conquering a world gives you, how checkpoints save time, and the upgrades, cards and spells that beat the bosses.
Dark Tower: Idle Villain TD has five worlds, each 50 waves long with a boss on waves 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. Beat wave 50 and the world is conquered: the next one opens, your tower takes a new, more terrible form, and you can still replay any world you have won. Each world has 12 kinds of enemy, 60 in all, and later worlds pay more for everything.
We make Dark Tower, so every number in this guide comes from the game's code.
The five worlds
| World | Name | Who marches on your tower | Tower forms |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Obsidian Wastes | Knights and paladins of light | 10 |
| 2 | Fel Wastes | Fel demons | 8 |
| 3 | Frozen Hell | The frozen undead | 10 |
| 4 | The Void | Creatures of the void | 8 |
| 5 | Gates of Heaven | The angels guarding the gates | 8 |
Browse the worlds with the arrows on the lobby's world panel: a locked one shows what opens it, and BATTLE plays the world you are looking at.
How a world is built
- 50 waves, each a mix of the world's enemies, faster and bigger as you go.
- Bosses on waves 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. Each boss pays 10 crystals and 15 Dark Energy.
- After every fifth wave you get 5 crystals and a Dark Draw.
- Wave 50 conquers the world. The new world's tower starts at level 1, but every tower level you bought before keeps counting.
What later worlds change
New worlds bring stronger enemies with more dangerous skills, and pay more in return: the login calendar's gold is three times higher in each new world, and the idle vault holds one more gem per hour. Tower levels in later worlds cost more crystals, from 1x in world 1 to 3x in world 5. Our Factory and tower evolution guide has every price.
Checkpoints
Once you have reached wave 11, 21, 31 or 41 in a world, you can start there. The game gives you the soul orbs the skipped waves would have paid and 12 Dark Energy per skipped wave, so a checkpoint start is not weaker than playing those waves. A conquered world counts as fully reached.
How to beat the bosses
- Freeze them: Frozen Time stops every enemy for 3.5 seconds and a boss for half as long, which still buys your tower time.
- Burst them: Hellfire Meteor hits for 6 times your attack; save it for the boss.
- The right cards: Thunder Strike and Berserk help against bosses. Execution and Dead Hit do not: bosses ignore Execution and can avoid a Dead Hit.
- The right relic: Demon Horn adds up to 40% damage to bosses.
- Health first when bosses break through: health, damage resistance and shields in the Factory keep the tower standing long enough.
Tips for pushing a new world
- Evolve the tower and spend your gold in the Factory before the first battle in a new world.
- Expect a slower start: the first waves of a new world hit harder than the last waves of the old one.
- Use checkpoints as soon as they open, and replay the previous world for gold and crystals when you are stuck.
- Use the spells early: every battle starts with them half charged.
- Once world 1 is conquered, the Abyss is a good place to farm crystals and gems.
