Dark Tower Factory and Tower Evolution: Every Permanent Upgrade

Every permanent upgrade in Dark Tower: Idle Villain TD: the four Factory tabs and what each upgrade set costs to unlock, how Factory levels stack with the soul-orb upgrades of a battle, and the tower's evolution through 44 forms with every crystal price.

There are two ways to grow stronger for good in Dark Tower: Idle Villain TD. The Factory spends gold on permanent levels for the same upgrades you buy with soul orbs in battle, and it unlocks new upgrade sets, from critical shots for 200 gold to Dead Hit for 35,000. The Fortress spends crystals on your tower's evolution: 44 forms across five worlds, each adding +8% attack, +8% health and +4% attack speed in every world.

We make Dark Tower, so every number in this guide comes from the game's code.

How Factory levels and battle levels add up

Every upgrade has two levels: the permanent one you buy with gold in the Factory and the one you buy with soul orbs during a battle. The game adds them together. Soul-orb prices only depend on the levels you buy in that battle, so each Factory level is a free head start: the tower starts stronger, and the in-battle upgrades cost what they always cost.

Tower evolution: 44 forms

Every world has its own tower, and you raise it in the Fortress with crystals: ten levels in worlds 1 and 3, eight in worlds 2, 4 and 5. A new world starts its tower at level 1, but every level you have bought anywhere keeps counting, so you never lose strength.

2 Fel Wastes838, 68, 105, 150, 210, 390, 5701,531

5 Gates of Heaven875, 135, 210, 300, 420, 780, 1,1403,060

Every level bought adds +8% attack, +8% health and +4% attack speed, and the bonuses add up. With all 39 steps bought, your tower deals 4.12 times its base damage, has 4.12 times its health and attacks 2.56 times as fast.

Crystals come from battles (5 every fifth wave, 10 for every boss), the daily login (days 3 and 6), the Abyss (8 every ten waves past 50), the shop (40 for 60 gems) and the starter pack.

What to buy first

  1. Attack, attack speed and health in the Factory, a few levels each, so every battle starts stronger.
  2. Critical shots (200) and damage resistance (300): cheap unlocks with a big effect.
  3. Tower evolution whenever you have the crystals: it multiplies everything and works in every world.
  4. Double shot (2,000), shields (2,000) and gold per wave (1,000) next.
  5. Satellites, bombs and the bigger attack sets once you are past world 1.

Factory FAQ

What is the best Factory upgrade in Dark Tower?

Attack and attack speed early, then critical shots and double shots. On the defense side, damage resistance is the cheapest big help.

Do Factory upgrades reset?

No. Factory levels, unlocked sets and tower evolution are permanent. Only the soul-orb levels of a battle reset.

How many tower forms are there?

44: ten in worlds 1 and 3 and eight in worlds 2, 4 and 5.
