ONI Snakes Arena Guide: Power-ups, Arena Events and All 16 Medals
Everything that happens in an ONI Snakes: Armored Arena arena: the four power-ups and their timers, Food Rain, Blackout and the Gold Minute, boost pads, jump pads and lava vents, jackpots, combos and the marked leader, and how to earn all 16 medals.
Every arena in ONI Snakes: Armored Arena runs on its own clock: power-ups appear at fixed spots, an event shakes the match up every minute or so, and the floor has boost pads, jump pads and lava vents. On top of that, 16 medals reward the big moments. Knowing when and where things happen is the easiest edge you can get over the computer snakes.
We make ONI Snakes, so every number here comes from the game's code.
Power-ups
Four power-ups wait at five fixed spots and come back on a timer after someone takes one. The first snake to touch it gets it, computer snakes included.
| Power-up | Where | First at | Back after | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Overdrive | the middle | 25 s | 50 s | 10 seconds with half the time between shots, no heat and 20% more speed |
| Shield Bubble | two spots | 12 s and 21 s | 32 s | the next 3 hits bounce off, for up to 15 seconds |
| EMP | one spot | 15 s | 36 s | every other snake nearby loses its gun and drones for 4 seconds and is slowed for 2 |
| Phantom | one spot | 18 s | 34 s | 8 seconds cloaked: computer snakes, their guns and drones lose you |
The other four spots form a square around the middle. The game announces Overdrive 10 seconds before it appears and again when it is up, so expect a fight in the middle.
Boosters
Booster pickups lie on the floor too: Magnet, Speed, Zoom Out and x2 Score. A pickup goes onto the button of the same booster and is used before your own. Boosters from the shop cost 250 coins (Zoom Out), 300 (Speed), 400 (Magnet) and 600 (x2 Score), and each lasts 10 seconds.
Arena events
From the 40th second, something happens every 50 to 65 seconds:
- Food Rain: 70 big pieces of food rain down all over the floor. Not in Scarcity or Boss Hunt.
- Blackout: the lights go out for 14 seconds, and only the ground around each snake's head can be seen.
- Gold Minute: in the last minute of every timed match, every piece of food you eat pays 3 coins.
Jackpots, combos and the leader
- Jackpot: a snake with 60 plates or more that dies spills 4 to 12 gold orbs, one for every 15 plates. Each orb adds length at once and pays 8 coins at the end of the match. Bosses and the Golden Snake spill a jackpot too.
- Combo: eating less than a second apart builds a combo, and every 10th bite of a combo adds a bonus plate.
- Size callouts: the announcer calls out 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 500, 750, 1,000 and 1,500.
- The marked leader: the longest snake with 25 plates or more is marked; every bolt on it takes 2 extra plates, and it drops 2 cells per hit.
Boost pads, jump pads and lava vents
- Boost pads: six round pads on a ring around the middle. Driving over one gives 1.7 times your speed for 1.6 seconds.
- Jump pads: four golden pads. A jump lasts 1.15 seconds: your snake flies over the others, nobody can crash into anybody, and you cannot eat. It is the way out of a coil, but the wall still kills in the air.
- Lava vents: four vents that glow for 1.6 seconds and then erupt, every 13 seconds, burning plates off any snake on top.
The six arenas
Each floor is an arena of its own: Neon Hive, Magma Forge, Circuit City, Serpent Temple, Frozen Core and Carbon Vault. The floor is random unless you pick one under ARENAS, and it only changes the look.

Tips
- Be in the middle at 25 seconds. Overdrive is the strongest power-up, and it appears at the same time and place in every match.
- Save EMP for a crowd. It switches off every gun and drone around you for 4 seconds.
- Use Blackout to hunt. Snakes cannot see you coming; strip one while the lights are out.
- Farm the Gold Minute. Stay alive and keep eating: in a Food Rain it adds up fast.
- Jump out of trouble. A jump pad is the one safe way over a snake that is coiling around you.

FAQ
Where does Overdrive spawn in ONI Snakes?
In the middle of the arena, first at 25 seconds and then 50 seconds after each pickup. The game announces it 10 seconds before.
How do I get the Jackpot medal?
Eat 5 gold jackpot orbs within 5 seconds. Orbs spill when a snake of 60 plates or more dies, and when a boss or the Golden Snake goes down.
What does EMP do in ONI Snakes?
It sends a pulse around your snake: every other snake nearby loses its gun and drones for 4 seconds and is slowed for 2.
