Idle Ronin Equipment Guide: Crafting, Refining, Sets and Re-rolls
Everything about equipment in Idle Ronin: Cyber RPG, from the game code: what 1, 4 and 8-hour crafts give, how ATK grows with colour and level, the refining trick that lifts a Gold piece straight to level 10, every prefix and suffix, the Sharp, Blunt and Pocket sets, re-rolls, the Reconfigurator and salvage.
Equipment is the biggest damage boost of the middle game in Idle Ronin: Cyber RPG. Every piece you wear adds a percentage to the ATK of all your units, and most pieces carry bonus lines for gold, crits, the boss timer or Rebirth Tokens. Crafting opens after stage 80, and more slots open at stages 100, 150, 200 and 500, five in all.
We make Idle Ronin, so every number in this guide comes from the game code.
How equipment ATK works
A piece adds 10% ATK per level, multiplied by its colour:
| Colour | Multiplier | ATK at level 1 | ATK at level 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| White | x1 | +10% | +100% |
| Green | x1.5 | +15% | +150% |
| Blue | x2 | +20% | +200% |
| Purple | x3 | +30% | +300% |
| Gold | x5 | +50% | +500% |
The bonuses of all the pieces you wear add up, and the total raises the ATK of every unit. Two prefixes add more before the colour multiplier: Powerful adds another 10% per level, which doubles the piece's ATK, and Deadly adds 5% per level. A level 10 Gold piece with Powerful gives +1,000% ATK on its own.
A piece's colour never changes, but its level does. That makes colour the thing to hunt for and level the thing to build.
Crafting: 1, 4 or 8 hours
Tap CRAFT NEW in the equipment tab and choose a crafting time. One craft runs at a time, and it keeps going while the game is closed. Longer crafts give higher levels and better colours:
| Craft | Level | Purple | Blue | Green | White |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | 1 | Pity bonus only | 8% | 25% | The rest |
| 4 hours | 2 to 4 | 1% + pity bonus | 20% | 45% | The rest |
| 8 hours | 6 to 10 | 2% + pity bonus | The rest | 80% | Never |
The pity bonus is what makes purple come in the end. Every 4-hour craft that is not purple adds 1 to 3 points to your purple chance, and every 8-hour craft that is not purple adds 4 to 8 points. One-hour crafts add nothing, and a purple craft resets the bonus to zero. The odds key next to each crafting time shows your current purple chance.
Crafting never makes Gold equipment. Gold comes from the item shop, from Gold Shards and from the Neon Halloween event.
Speeding up crafts
A running craft can be finished at once for 1 diamond per minute left, so a fresh 8-hour craft costs 480 diamonds, which is rarely worth it. Crafting time also shrinks with the Equipment craft time bonus on gear (the of Heat suffix and the Sonic and AFK prefixes) and with Rivet's High Heat passive, which takes 0.4% off per level. Together they can cut crafting time by up to 90%.
Which crafting time is best?
The 8-hour craft, nearly always. It never gives white, it builds the purple pity bonus fastest, and its level of 6 to 10 makes it the best refining material in the game, as the next section shows. Start one before bed or a long break. The 1-hour craft only makes sense while you are playing and want material quickly.
Refining: how to level up equipment
Open a piece and tap REFINE to feed it materials: other pieces from your bag and Refine Crystals. Each level takes 100 exp, and the materials are used up. What a material gives depends on its level compared to your piece:
| Material | What your piece gets |
|---|---|
| Refine Crystal | +20 exp at any level, so 5 crystals make a level |
| A piece of the same level | +1 level |
| A piece of a higher level | That piece's level, plus a little exp |
| A piece 1 level lower | About 50 exp |
| A piece 2 levels lower | About 25 exp |
| A piece 3 levels lower | About 12 exp |
| A piece 4 or more levels lower | 5 exp |
Forge's Weaponry passive adds 3% refine exp per level to crystals and lower-level pieces, and Forge's Smelting skill makes Refine Crystals.
The refining trick: jump straight to a high level
A higher-level material lifts your piece to its own level, so you can combine the best colour with the best level. Feed a level 10 white piece from an 8-hour craft into a level 1 Gold piece, and the Gold piece becomes level 10: +500% ATK instead of +50%. After that, every piece of the same level adds one more level.
So the plan is:
- Wear the best colours you own: Gold, then Purple, then Blue.
- Keep an 8-hour craft running at all times.
- Feed each new high-level piece into your best piece below its level, and same-level pieces into anything for +1.
- Use Refine Crystals to top up the last exp of a level.
Equipment from the item shop arrives at level 1, so this trick is what makes a Gold card worth its price.
Bonus lines: prefixes and suffixes
Green and better pieces roll a suffix, the of ... part of the name, and Blue and better pieces also roll a prefix. Bonus lines grow with the piece's level but, unlike ATK, they are not multiplied by colour: a level 10 Blue piece has the same bonus lines as a level 10 Gold one.
Suffixes
| Suffix | Bonus | At level 1 | At level 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| of Greed | Enemy Gold | +7% | +25% |
| of Ghosts | Rebirth Tokens | +2% | +11% |
| of Luck | 10x Gold chance | +0.11% | +0.2% |
| of Discovery | Treasure Chest spawn | +6% | +33% |
| of Harmony | Treasure Chest Gold | +6% | +24% |
| of Willpower | Critical chance | +0.2% | +1.1% |
| of Pain | Critical damage | +4% | +13% |
| of Ignorance | Boss Timer | +1 second | +1.9 seconds |

| of Haste | Attack speed | +0.2% | +1.1% |
| of Success | Offline Gold | +4% | +22% |
| of Heat | Equipment craft time | -0.6% | -2.4% |
Prefixes
| Prefix | Bonuses at level 10 |
|---|---|
| Powerful | +100% ATK before the colour multiplier, which doubles the piece's ATK |
| Deadly | +50% ATK before the colour multiplier, damage to bosses +3.3% |
| Burning | Critical chance +1.1%, critical damage +11.5% |
| Sharp | Critical chance +1.1%, damage to bosses +4.4% |
| Heavy | Critical damage +13%, damage to non-boss enemies +4.4% |
| Battle | Damage to non-boss enemies and to bosses +4.4% each |
| Sonic | Attack speed +1.1%, craft time -2.4% |
| Rich | Enemy Gold +25%, Treasure Chest Gold +24% |
| Unreal | Enemy Gold +25%, Offline Gold +11% |
| Titan | Treasure Chest spawn +33%, Treasure Chest Gold +24% |
| Lucky | 10x Gold chance +0.2%, Treasure Chest spawn +33% |
| Awkward | 10x Gold chance +0.2%, damage to non-boss enemies +4.4% |
| Idle | Offline Gold +44% |
| AFK | Offline Gold +22%, craft time -2.4% |
| Quantum | Rebirth Tokens +22% |
| Support | Rebirth Tokens +11%, Offline Gold +12% |
| Black Market | Rebirth Tokens +11%, Boss Timer +1.9 seconds |
For damage, Powerful is the prefix to keep, followed by Deadly. For Rebirth runs, Quantum, Support and Black Market add Rebirth Tokens, and Black Market and of Ignorance add seconds to the boss timer.
Equipment sets (from stage 125)
From stage 125, the pieces you wear also count toward a set. The set depends only on the item's name: colour, level and bonus lines do not matter, and a re-roll never changes it.
| Set | Items | Bonus | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 pieces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sharp Set | Tomahawk, Cutlass, Gladius, Heavy Blade, Katana, Cleaver, Plasma Lance, Reaper, Long Sword, Scimitar, Combat Knife | ATK | +12% / +50% / +150% / +400% / +750% |
| Blunt Set | Shock Staff, Alloy Bat, Sledge, Nunchaku, Sai, Street Bat, Nail Bat, Tonfa | Enemy Gold | +10% / +40% / +120% / +320% / +600% |
| Pocket Set | Plasma Sticks, Kunai, Switchblade, Shuriken, Holo Pistol, Attack Drone | Attack speed | +6% / +24% / +54% / +100% / +150% |
Every craft picks one of the 25 names at random. Each has the same chance of about 4.3%, except Plasma Sticks and Attack Drone, which turn up in fewer than 1 craft in 150. That makes 47% of all pieces Sharp, 34% Blunt and 18% Pocket.
Five Sharp pieces add +750% ATK, more than a level 10 Gold piece, and they are the easiest set to fill. The Pocket Set's +150% attack speed is the strong late-game choice: speed multiplies all of your damage, while the Sharp bonus adds to an ATK total that is already large by then. The Blunt Set is for farming gold.
The set bonus counts only the pieces you wear, and the Sharp Set has nothing to do with the Sharp prefix.
Re-roll and the Reconfigurator
REROLL in a piece's window gives it a new random prefix and suffix for 20 diamonds. Its name, level, exp, colour and set stay the same. The new roll replaces the old one at once, even when it is worse. On Blue and better pieces every prefix has the same 1 in 17 chance, Powerful included. White pieces have no bonus lines, so re-rolling them changes nothing.
The Reconfigurator, sold in the item shop for 130 diamonds, rolls the same way but lets you choose: tap KEEP NEW or KEEP OLD. Closing the window keeps the new roll, and the Reconfigurator is used up either way. Save it for a piece whose current roll is already good.
Salvage Kits and shards
A Salvage Kit, 90 diamonds in the item shop, breaks one piece from your bag down into shards:
- Gold piece: 3 Gold Shards
- Purple piece: 3 Purple Shards
- Blue piece: 2 Purple Shards
- Green or white piece: 1 Purple Shard
10 Gold Shards forge a Gold Equipment and 8 Purple Shards a Purple Equipment, both at level 1. Shards are also sold in the item shop: the game forges the new piece when a shard purchase brings your count to 10 Gold or 8 Purple Shards, and salvaged shards count toward it.
Salvage is lossy on purpose, so never break down a piece that could still be refining material. It is for spare Blue and Purple pieces you will never wear: four spare Blue pieces make a Purple one.
Where to get better equipment
- Crafting: white to purple, level 1 to 10.
- Item shop, after your second Rebirth: Blue Equipment for 400 diamonds, Purple for 1,000 and Gold for 2,550, all at level 1, plus Gold Shards for 240 and Purple Shards for 110 each.
- Neon Halloween, 20 October to 10 November: a level 10 Gold piece and a level 5 Purple piece in the trade shop, once each.
- Cyber Christmas, 10 to 31 December: a Blue piece and a level 5 Purple piece among the gadget rewards.
Ten Gold Shards cost 2,400 diamonds against 2,550 for the Gold Equipment card, and eight Purple Shards cost 880 against 1,000, so shards are the cheaper road when they show up. Our item shop guide covers every card, and our events guide covers the trades.
Idle Ronin equipment FAQ
What is the best equipment in Idle Ronin?
A Gold piece with the Powerful prefix, refined as high as you can take it: at level 10 it adds +1,000% ATK. Wear it with four more pieces of the same set, and if all five are Sharp pieces, the set adds another +750% ATK.
Should I craft for 1, 4 or 8 hours?
Eight hours, unless you are playing right now and need material at once. It never gives white, it gives level 6 to 10 and it builds the purple pity bonus fastest.
Does refining change a piece's colour?
No. The colour is fixed when the piece is made. Refining raises the level, which raises its ATK and its bonus lines.
Is re-rolling worth the diamonds?
On Blue, Purple and Gold pieces you plan to keep, yes, mainly to fish for Powerful. Never on white pieces, which have no bonus lines to change.
